Weekly Update on Wednesday March 20th 2019

Another good week in Year 3!

Assessment week is underway and the children have been very sensible and calm to date - good job! In English, we have put the final touches to our Nonsense Poems and in Maths, we are tackling Telling the Time - do please support us in our efforts! In Science we start our Human Body topic with a look at Healthy Eating and also, of course, we had our PAT STEM evening at RAS where our lovely Year 3 team represented us and our Pollution Project. A huge thank you and well done to them! In Topic, we looked at the start of the war and the Blitz. We have used our sketching skills to draw Anderson and Morrison shelters, too. We may also have time for some Scratch later in the week. Swimming continues on Friday - again the children did well last week. A big thank you again to our Parent Helpers so far and another in advance to those who will join us this week.

Next week, we will start to look at Discussion Writing in English and in Topic, we will look at Rationing. This will fit in very nicely with our continuing work on Nutrition in Science. In Maths, we will revisit Subtraction and discuss strategies for this. We will also have a creative Easter Expressions morning on Friday 29th when we will prepare for our Easter Service the following week. We would love parent helpers for this - do let us know if you are available. In addition to that, we will also have a visit to HTCD on the afternoon of Monday 25th for our Easter Experience, which will hopefully give us full understanding of this most important of Christian festivals.

Please continue with Reading, Spelling and Maths support. Do get busy on Doodle if you haven't already started - we have a competition going to see which class 'Doodles' the most!

Have a great week,

The Year 3 Team
