Year 6 visit to Stonehenge
As part of our Stone Age topic, we have planned a visit to Stonehenge on Wednesday 31st January 2018. The Stone Age is a fantastic topic and we believe that having the site almost on our doorstep is too much of an opportunity to be missed.
In order for the trip to run, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £8.95 per child, which includes coach travel, admission and the workshop cost. The costs are based on all children in the year group going on the trip. If there are not enough contributions to make the trip viable then it may be necessary to cancel, or use our PTA money to cover the shortfall (meaning less fun resources for the children later in the year). If you are not able to afford the full cost of the trip, we would appreciate part-payment (this can be done on ParentMail or via cheque).
The day will comprise of two parts:
- We shall be visiting the Education Centre and completing educational activities as well as investigating the Stonehenge site and surrounding area.
- We will be taking part in a 2-hour workshop on Neolithic life.
Children need to arrive at school a little earlier than normal for morning registration at 8.30am and we will be returning to school at 3.45pm (traffic permitting).
Much of this trip will be spent outdoors, so please can children come wearing warm clothing (lots of layers!), a waterproof coat and welly boots or old shoes in a carrier bag as it may be muddy.
Your child will need a packed lunch including a re-sealable drink (water bottle) for the day (no fizzy drinks, glass bottles or cans please). Your child will also need a drink and fruit/vegetable snack to have on arrival at Stonehenge. We will be walking quite far so please do not over-pack your bag!
PLEASE PAY AND GIVE CONSENT ONLINE (USING PARENTMAIL). If you are not registered with ParentMail, please return your slip and contribution to the school office by FRIDAY 19TH JANUARY 2018, in an envelope with your child’s name, class and ‘Stonehenge’ on the front. Due to lack of space on the coach, unfortunately we are not able to take any parent helpers with us.
