Nothe Fort Trip - Cherry 1
As part of our studies in History, we have arranged a visit to Nothe Fort Evacuee Experience in Weymouth. The children will have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of an evacuee during World War II. This will include shopping, washing and school during the war, plus a visit to the Fort’s ‘Weymouth at War’ exhibition.
In order for the trip to run, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £14.50 to cover the entrance charge of £4 and the transport cost of £13.50 (£3 of the cost per child has been subsidised from our cake sale funds). The costs are based on all children in the year group going on the trip. If there are not enough contributions to make the trip viable, it may be necessary to cancel.
Leave: 7.00am Monkton Combe School off North Road – outside the swimming pool
Arrive back: Approx 5.15 pm (traffic dependant). Collect from drop off point (as above).
Clothing: WWII era clothes. We will be outdoors, so bring warm, waterproof coats but also wear sun cream if necessary.
Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch based on WWII food (see suggestions below) and a named resealable water bottle. A brown paper bag would be an ideal lunchbox!
- Cheese, jam or marmite sandwich wrapped in a paper bag or greaseproof paper.
- Salt and shake crisps
- Apple or pear, fruit cake or plain cake or biscuit (no nuts please!)
Please let the class teacher know of any medical requirements your child may have. Please also bear in mind that the route to Weymouth includes some twisty roads, so travel sickness medication, if required, should be given in plenty of time for the journey. Please complete and return the slip by Monday 8th May.
Best wishes, The Year 3 Team
