The Foundation Stage team here at Combe Down School have achieved The Bristol Standard award for an ninth year in a row (May 2017). Combe Down Primary School started The Bristol Standard for the first time in 2007.
The Bristol Standard was devised as a self evaluation document for Early Years settings to develop outstanding practice to support the young learners in their care. The Standard itself is separated into ten elements, which includes topics such as Parent Partnership, Outside Learning and Children's learning opportunities. The Standard is designed to support an Early Years setting in the evaluation and development across these ten elements. The national assessors who scrutinise the School's documentation and action planning are always happy with the way in which the School evaluates its Early Years provision, and particularly note the way the School illustrates how all these changes would impact upon the children.
The Bristol Standard is an annual award and has been achieved here every year since 2007.
